The beaches of Maui, Hawaii have been Tatiana Howard’s playground since before she could crawl. Raised with three older brothers and water loving parents, it is not surprising that she turned out to be a water-loving mermaid. Weekly surf sessions and beach BBQ’s with friends and family and a love for watching the windsurfers fly over the waves at Hookipa were always a common occurrence.
At a young age she gracefully, eased into windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing like it was a natural progression of growing up. By the age of 16 she was on the Professional Windsurfing Tour traveling the world. Competing internationally as well as locally always found her in the finals and amongst the top 12 women windsurfers of the world. Soon after she also grew curious and in love with tow-in surfing and stand-up paddling.
When she is not in the water Tatiana can be found either dancing, on a yoga mat or finishing her B.S. Business Degree at the University of Hawaii. She believes that yoga not only helps her stay strong and flexible, but more importantly focused and steady in her determination to follow her dreams. Her appreciation and gratitude for life spills over into all areas of her life.
She is the founder of the world wide water woman movement, The Butterfly Effect. Her exposure in a wide variety of sporting magazines across the world is a witness of not only her water passion, but also her unique fun-loving ways of spreading aloha for the ocean as well as the sports.
